Intelligent Safety Monitoring
with Edge AI

MTechnology cameras process video analytics directly on-device. PPE compliance, perimeter protection, behavioral analysis and thermal monitoring run at the edge — no external servers, no additional software, no recurring license fees.

The intelligence is in the camera, not on a server

Traditional video analytics systems rely on server-side processing: cameras stream raw video to a central GPU server, which runs the analysis. More cameras mean more processing power — and more cost.

MTechnology takes a different approach. Every camera carries a dedicated AI processor that analyses the scene in real time, on-device. The NVR receives pre-processed events — not raw video to decode. Each camera you add brings its own computing power.

The result: zero GPU servers to purchase, sub-100ms alarm latency, and full functionality even during network outages. The system scales naturally from 10 to 200+ cameras without architectural changes.

On-Camera HSE Analytics

Six AI functions that run natively on every MTechnology camera — no plugins, no server-side processing, no third-party software required.

MTechnology PPE Detection interface — hard hat and vest detection

PPE Detection

Detects 9 personal protective equipment attributes in real time: hard hat, high-visibility vest, mask, gloves, safety goggles, safety shoes, apron, coveralls and safety harness. Instant alarm when a worker enters a restricted area without the required PPE.

98% accuracy* · Up to 10 people per frame · Local model customization
MTechnology Smart Search — person and vehicle filtering

Person & Vehicle Classification

Distinguishes people, vehicles and non-motorized vehicles from environmental noise — leaves, animals, shadows, rain, snow. The NVR receives only verified events, not generic motion alerts.

99% classification accuracy* · False alarm rate <1%*
MTechnology Perimeter Protection — tripwire and intrusion zones

Perimeter & Restricted Areas

Directional tripwire, polygon intrusion zones, fast-moving detection and loitering alerts. Each rule filters by target type (person or vehicle), so a forklift crossing a line does not trigger a pedestrian alarm.

Tripwire · Intrusion · Fast moving · Loitering · Crowd detection
MTechnology Behavioral Analysis — worker monitoring

Behavioral Analysis

Detects running, falling, loitering and abnormal crowd formation. In ATEX-classified zones, smoking detection triggers an immediate alarm. Events are logged with timestamp, area and snapshot for post-incident review.

Running · Falling · Loitering · Smoking (ATEX) · Crowd anomaly
MTechnology Thermal Monitoring — hotspot detection and fire prevention

Thermal Monitoring & Fire Prevention

Bi-spectrum cameras (visible + thermal) detect hotspots before they become fires. Configurable temperature thresholds with pre-alarm and critical alarm levels. Emissivity calibration for industrial materials is essential for accurate readings.

Temperature thresholds · Pre-alarm + critical alarm · Fire linkage
MTechnology ANPR — license plate recognition and vehicle access

ANPR & Vehicle Access

Automatic Number Plate Recognition with allowlist/blocklist matching. Authorized vehicles open barriers automatically; unauthorized plates trigger alerts with plate image, timestamp and direction. Integrates with access control and visitor management.

On-camera processing · Allow/block lists · Barrier integration

Privacy & Regulatory Compliance

Video surveillance in the workplace operates within a strict regulatory framework. MTechnology integrates privacy protection by design.

MTechnology Privacy Masking — real-time face and body anonymization
MTechnology Privacy Protection — real-time masking with AI analytics running beneath the anonymization layer

Real-Time Privacy Masking

Automatic face and body masking applied directly on-camera. AI analytics continue to function beneath the mask — PPE detection, people counting and perimeter protection all work on anonymized video. Control room operators see silhouettes, not identifiable individuals.

Controlled Decryption

In post-incident investigations, original unmasked footage can be accessed only with management-level authorization keys. This dual-layer approach supports data minimization principles while preserving the ability to review footage when legally justified.

GDPR Data Minimization

Privacy masking supports the GDPR principle of data minimization: the system collects only what is necessary for safety monitoring. Analytics metadata (event type, timestamp, zone) is processed without requiring personally identifiable visual data in normal operation.

Cybersecurity

AES-256 encrypted streams, HTTPS management, 802.1X network authentication, configurable multi-factor access. Firmware integrity checks and secure boot prevent tampering. No mandatory cloud connection — all data stays on local infrastructure.

Important: Where video surveillance may result in remote monitoring of work activity, applicable labor regulations (e.g. worker representation agreements or labor inspectorate authorization under EU member state laws) must be observed. A DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) is recommended for all workplace deployments. Privacy masking is a technical measure supporting compliance — it does not replace the required legal and organizational saf

Frequently asked questions
How does edge AI video analytics differ from server-based analytics?
Edge AI runs detection algorithms directly on the camera's onboard processor. Server-based systems stream all video to a central machine that does the analysis.
Edge AI eliminates server hardware costs, per-channel license fees, network  bandwidth load, and latency. It also continues working if the network goes down.
Which PPE attributes can MTechnology cameras detect?
The cameras detect nine PPE attributes: hard hat, high-visibility vest, face mask, gloves, safety goggles, safety  shoes, apron, coveralls, and safety harness. Detection runs in real time on-device and can trigger alerts, log events, or enforce access control at entry points.
Are edge AI surveillance systems GDPR-compliant?
The free updates that will be provided is based on the roadmap that we have laid out for this project. It is also possible that we will provide extra updates outside of the roadmap as well.
How does ANPR integrate with access control?
License plate recognition runs on the edge AI camera and cross-references allow/blocklists in real time. Recognized plates can trigger gate opening, log vehicle entries, or flag unauthorized vehicles. Integration with third-party  access control uses ONVIF and standard I/O relays
Do MTechnology cameras support ATEX-classified zones?
Behavioral analysis functions include smoking detection designed for ATEX-classified areas where ignition sources must be controlled. Dedicated ATEX-rated housings are required for the hardware it self and are part of the industrial product line.
What happens if the network fails?
Edge AI cameras operate autonomously. Video is recorded locally, analytics continue, and events are logged on-device.
When the network returns, queued events synchronize automatically. This is the main reason edge architectures are preferred in industrial HSE over server-based ones.
Can thermal cameras detect fires before visible flames?
Bi-spectrum thermal cameras detect hotspots by surface temperature, which rises before combustion becomes visible. The system triggers alerts at configurable thresholds, enabling intervention minutes before a conventional smoke or flame detector would react. This is critical in storage facilities, chemical plants, and electrical cabinets.
